Hmm... my collecting habits are starting to fragment. This only keeps track of CDs that I'm looking for (primarily music). I'm also maintaining a list of movies on DVD that I either have, or am looking to get. Obviously, that will include some music on it as well. OK, so the reason that I wrote this page was to keep track of all of the different music that I've heard (or not heard) and would like to add to my admittedly large collection of music. At some point in my teen years I realized that only by actually buying and owning legal copies of a given piece of music was it possible for me to give something back to the artist that created it, so please, no bootlegs or illegal copies are desired. I've made this a public document so that (a) others can track my taste in music and know whether or not they're communicating on a common ground with me, and (b) so that if someone wants to give me music (for a present, say) they can check to see if I'd be interested in what they were considering. At some point I plan on making a full list of the albums and singles that I own, but will hold off on that until I can automate the process to some extent. Several of the things in my list are limited releases or non-commercial recordings, and are therefore very hard to find. I'd be happy just to know where to get them, much less get them as gifts. So, to cut to the chase, here's what I want:
Album: Group: Song: Label: Quote: If/When/How I got it: (or other notes)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Album Various Artists
Gatecrasher: Red compilation Garbage When I Grow Up (Danny Teneglia Club Mix)
Babylon Zoo Spaceman Not the version on "More Kombat". I guess I want the mix on the single... A friend of mine played a mix that he found at some point, but doesn't know where it was originally published. Also not the version on their album "The Boy with the X-Ray Eyes".
Surrender to the Vibe Union Jack Water Drums Phantasm ...Instrumental...
Surrender to the Vibe Quatermass Dawn Goddess Phantasm ...Instrumental...
knowoneness Electric Skychurch Radiate Moonshine Music ...Instrumental?..
Shawn Colvin Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? I think I heard this on a TV show? Either way, it was a beautiful rendition of this classic song.
Not on an album that I know of??? Orb Blue Room Well, it is on an album. But the versions are different.
Everything Saint Etienne If I don't have it yet, I want it. I've got "Foxbase Alpha", "So Tough" and their latest (double CD: "Good Humor" and "Fairfax High"), as well as the singles for "Hug My Soul", "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" and "He's on the Phone." I'm not quite sure what else they've got out, but I know there are a couple of singles and albums that I don't have.
Everything Kate Bush If I don't have it yet, I want it. I've got "The Red Shoes", and thanks to the kind thoughts of Miss Annalee Bohon, I have received "Hounds of Love" as a Birthday present in 1997. I'm starting to round out my collection, having just picked up a *cheap* copy of "The Sensual World."
Relentless Pet Shop Boys EMI instrumental? Note: this was part of a (limited edition) 2-CD set called Very Relentless

And this is old entries that I've gotten along the way...
Album: Group: Song: Label: Quote: If/When/How I got it: (or other notes)
Not on an album that I know of, only on singles. Belly Judas Mon Coeur 4AD, I think Ou je suis, une femme marche ici et la sur les mains OK, so this is just a french version of "Judas My Heart". It was available on a promo CD single, but I have yet to track down a copy of that. Finally released on the Belly's "Sweet Ride - The Best of" [Rhino/Sire records], which I got a new copy of... just for this song. (I already had most of the other tracks from their earlier releases.)
Please Pet Shop Boys EMI "I've got the brains, you've got the looks..." And people call me a PSB fan. What are they thinking?
UPDATE: Picked up a good condition copy at a used CD store over winter break 2000. Glad that I finally got around to getting this.
The Bluest Sky Nikki Meets The Hibachi I fear that I'll never find this album. Too small of a distribution. I only got to listen to it for a few months, when a friend of mine let me listen to her copy. I've wanted it ever since, even though I can now honestly say that I can't remember what it sounds like.
UPDATE Nov 7th 2000: I just got my copy in the mail, started listening to it, and it all started coming back. Boy do I remember now. :)
I've been given permission to let people know how to get it. Those instructions are located on my Nikki Meets The Hibachi page.
Suave Suave B-Tribe Note: I'm not sure this is the one I want, but I like their style... Actually the one I wanted was Fiesta Fatal, but I got that too...
Some Kind of Wonderful Soundtrack Lick the Tins Can't Help Falling In Love Also on "Folk Heartbeat" from Music Club International UB40 did it too, but I want this version 800.com made this just too tempting. Darn them.
Void Dweller Eon Spice "The Spice Must Flow" Finally broke down and paid full price for it. When I found it in a store (after years of on-and-off searching).
Garbage Garbage Stupid Girl "Don't believe in fear, Don't believe in pain, Don't believe in anything that you can't break" Snuck up on Santa in the Wherehouse... looks like he's getting it for me for christmas 1997. Nice guy, huh?
Chess, the musical British/London Cast 2-CD set "Let man's petty nations tear themselves apart." Bought this for myself the only time I saw it used.
Paula Cole Where have all the cowboys gone? Tell me you know this. You must know this. Unless, of course, you were living under a rock for a while there... Whoops, went and got this for myself.
B Movie Nowhere Girl "Nowhere Girl, you're living in a dream" Finally found and bought a soundtrack that contained this fine fine song. I hear that the movie sucks, though I haven't seen it myself.

Oh, and if you'd like to get me something, and really want to waste money (cuz you don't have one of those CDs just lying around) you could get me this neat-o mug, or perhaps, their other neat-o mug... well, I've determined that their catalog software won't let me link straight to the particular mugs in question. Likely due to the use of cookies or some other form of session ID. Of course I wouldn't want to force your hand too much now would I? And if you're wondering, these are mugs touting the high-neat-o-factor machines from SGI. (I'll get myself one of these eventually... (with a stress on the _eventually_)) And for those of you that think this is in poor taste as a web page, well, phooey on you. I didn't force you to read it, now did I?
