I like the movie StarTrek pretty much.
I am interested in building a computer system that help our daily life, especially the
sensor subsystem that monitors the environment and human activities.
Since lowlevel sensors such as inexpensive CMOS cams and microphone arrays are widely available.
Computer vision along with machine learning technique can be extremely helpful for such purpose.

In terms of object recognition and image understanding,
- computer vision falls behind human vision by a large margin.
- human vision seems to be an one-fits-all design while computer vision
needs to be tuned for specific application.
I am quite curious how the brain and human visual systems cooperate with each other.
