I began college as an ignorant Computer Science and Engineering major at University of California, Los Angeles. I dabbled a little in Bioinformatics, working as a summer intern at City of Hope. I did research into Microarray Analysis programs quantifying the error incident in various programs in attempting to calculate the magnitude of gene expression. I finished my B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering in 2006 from University of California, Los Angeles. I worked as a web developer for uWink inc building a digital bistro in the later half of 2006. The company has since gone public, and new restaurants are opening ... ^_-.

Since then, I have ventured from the streets of LA, down to the land on endless quantities of Mexican food, Hawaiian shirts, and intense computer architecture of San Diego. This is the beginning of my second year as a Ph.D. student at the University of California, San Diego in Computer Architecture. I have an amazing advisor, Dr. Dean Tullsen, who I am sure I drive crazy with my unfocused myriad of interests. My diverse interests have not proven fully unfruitful, as they have taken me to exciting internships at MIPS Technology Inc. and HP in the summers of 2007 and 2008. Stay tuned for more on my life ... ^_^.

I am very much into computers. I love to build, mod, overclock, and run benchmarks to demonstrate my marginal ability ... lol. I also enjoy web development, and find myself diving into a new tutorial a few times a week or so. You will usually find me programming cakephp or rubyonrails on my spare time ... whenever that occurs these days.

My primary focus is on computer architecture and operating systems. I research asymmetric multicore processors for their potential to improve performance and energy efficiency at different phases of program execution. This research interest has required attention to accurate power modeling, linux scheduling, multiprocessor design, and reliability.

A new interest of mine has arisen in the area of machine learning. I was quite moved by Jeff Hawkins' book, On Intelligence, and have ever since be interested in intelligent machines. This interest is rooted in understanding the neocortex and applying the basic algorithms used in an electro-chemical neocortex to modern software. This interests means I also study neurology and cognitive science.
