FOBr might mean:
the day began ambitiously enough. after a good sleep and breakfast in Cedar City, i almost immediately hit snow on my way up to Brians Head. At Webster's Flat, I was still feeling like i could ride a magic ribbon of dry pavement thru it all.
Lake Powell
Three original Navajo monuments
The best part of the Anasazi Motel is the view behind it.
I went buy a flock of pretty bikes in front of Canyon de Chelle, and just had to go back for a better look. They turned out to be mostly from San Diego, with some guests from Austria. Mine is the bike they're gathered around:) (Thur, Oct 12)
I made it to Creede, CO, very near the headwaters of the Rio Grande, to meet Mom, Helen and their friends. Mom was so impressed she even let me give her a spin around the parking lot. (Fri, Oct 13)
Here is the entire crowd of ladies.
The next morning I wake to find myself surrounded by hunters, and ... a MOOSE! (Estimates from these knowledgable folks was that it was a 3-yr old buck.)
Before leaving, I took the Bachelor's Loop trail, above
Creede and going past all sorts of abandoned mining sites.
Later that day I went on to Taos. The good news was that there is a number of great campgrounds nearby. The bad news was that they were all closed. The good news is that it takes a lot to keep out a motorcycle. The arrow points at my tent and bike! (Sat, Oct. 14)
Hidden just off the road was a very sweet little spot. A lovely evening; it's the first time I've used the fly for camoflage.
The next day I headed down towards Santa Fe, stopping of to see Melanie, her new husband and baby. (Sun, Oct. 15)
Monday was a workday (at SFI), but I got off in time to join Chris for a ride. It had dropped a good 20 degrees, and we were dancing between clouds, but it turned out fine. Here are two fine bikes parked outside the Mineshaft in Madrid. (Mon, Oct. 16)
That night I stayed with Dale, Angela and Weldon. The next morning was Angela's birthday, so on my way thru ABQ I stopped by Dale's office to deputize him as a florist. (Note the effect of his trick flash repeater unit!) (Tue, Oct. 17)
I went on thru ABQ and (per my mother's instructions) called on cousin Tom, the chile magnate. It just so happened that Bob and Joanne were just arriving that day, too; they just couldn't stop nibbling the (raw!) chiles.
That night I intended to camp at Summit Camp, just west of Window Rock. It too was closed, so I found another spot just of the road.
