During summer 2008 (mid-June), you will receive notification from your college with enrollment information.
Please be sure to visit your colleges website and follow their instructions, before you contact the CSE Department.
The CSE Department will offer an orientation two days before classes begin on Tuesday, September 23, 2008
from 2:00 - 3:30pm in the Auditorium of the Computer Science and Engineering Building (EBU3B) room 1202.
Please remember to submit all official transcripts to the Office of Admissions prior to the deadline of July 15.
Please check to make sure that grades for classes you have completed are submitted, it is your responsibility to
ensure that UCSD receives these transcripts.Call 858/534-8007 to speak with a transcript evaluator
if your course grades are not yet posted on TritonLink.
Check out "Academic History".
Course Equivalencies and Enrolling into CSE Courses You must make sure that all of your courses have
been transferred by checking your "Academic History" via TritonLink.
You may find that not all of the courses you transferred in are equivalent to UCSD classes. Another website that may
assist you with determining equivalent courses is Assist.org.
If you transferred in a class that you feel is equivalent to a required course for your major, and the course
did not get listed as equivalent to a UCSD course, you will need to submit a petition. In order to submit a
petition for review,
you need to complete a general petition form, and attach a copy of the course description for the course
that you took at your college. This process can take up to several weeks, so please be sure to submit your
petition as early as possible. The courses you completed at your college must be listed as equivalent to our
UCSD courses, in your Academic History on TritonLink, to be counted for your degree requirements.
Sometimes, transferable course numbers
are listed incorrectly underAcademic History in TritonLink. The CSE Student Affairs Staff can fix CSE
transferable courses so that you get credit, if you let us know that a course is listed incorrectly in your
Academic History. An error like this will keep you fromenrolling into other CSE courses. CSE 91 - Perspectives in CSE
Two unit seminar. Waived for all transfer students. You do not need to take this course.
Enrollment into CSE 8A, CSE 8AL, CSE 8B, and CSE 11 If you completed a programming course in
Java and the course is not listed as equivalent to CSE 8A/8AL, CSE 8B or CSE 11, then you have to submit
a petition for review and approval. Please do this as soon as you can. Also, you should enroll into
CSE 8A/8AL or CSE 11 to secure a seat. Last day to enroll before the quarter starts is Monday,
September 21, 2008.
Enrollment into CSE 12 If you completed a programming course
in Java and the course did show up as equivalent to CSE 8B or CSE 11, then you are approved
to enroll into CSE 12 (Data Structures and OO Programming). If your Java Programming course is equivalent
to only CSE8A/8AL, then you must still complete either CSE 8B or CSE 11, before you can enroll into CSE 12.
