Admission to UCSD is handled by the
Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Students must be admitted to UCSD prior to being admitted into the CSE
Department.
Students must indicate that they are applying to the CSE Department by
listing CSE as their first choice of major on their application to UCSD.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will notify students by letter of
their admission decision. Freshman students who are offered admission
to UCSD and who have indicated CSE as their first choice of major on
their application will then be considered by the Jacobs School of
Engineering for admission into the CSE Department. The Dean's Office in
the Jacobs School of Engineering will notify students by letter of their
admission decision.
Freshman students who applied to the CSE Department and who do not
receive the second letter indicating whether or not they were admitted
to the department must contact
UCSD's Office of Undergraduate
Admissions.
Heavy Student Interest in CSE
Because of heavy student interest in the CSE Department, limited
resources available to accommodate this high demand, and maintenance of
a high quality program we find it necessary to limit enrollments.
Admission to the department as a major, transfer, or minor student is in
accordance with the general requirements established by the Jacobs
School of Engineering, or Engineering Student Services at ngellis@soe.ucsd.edu.
