In Outlook 2007, it is possible to create rules to file your messages
for you as they are received. In order to create a rule to move any
messages marked as spam by the Barracuda: To see a larger version of any of these images, simply click on
them. Expand the list of folders for your IMAP account by clicking the
"+" next to your account name.
Create a folder to file the spam into. If you do not already have
one, right-click on the account name in the folder list, and select
"New Folder". In the "Create New Folder" dialog, enter the name of the
folder you want to create. We'll be using
"Spam-Barracuda" for these examples. Next, select the top
level of your mail account (likely named with your email address) as
the location to create the new folder. Click OK.
You should now see your "Spam-Barracuda" folder in the list
of folders on your account. Now, let's create the rule to file spam
into it. From the "Tools" menu, select "Rules and
Alerts..." In the "Rules and Alerts" window, the "E-mail
Rules" tab should be in front, and the "New Rule..."
button should be highlighted. Click on "New Rule..."
You will be presented with the Rules Wizard, with a large number of
rule templates to choose from. Select "Check messages when
they arrive" underneath "Start from a blank rule" and
click "Next".
Next you'll be asked to select condition(s) for the rule. Click in
the checkbox next to "with specific words in the message
header" to select that condition. When the condition shows up
in the bottom part of the window, click on "specific
words".
A "Search Text" dialog will pop up. In the top part,
"Specify a word or phrase to search for in the message
header", type "X-Barracuda-Spam-Status: Yes" (without
the quotation-marks) and click "Add".
Click OK to dismiss the "Search Text" dialog.
Back in the Rules Wizard, click "Next". Now you'll be asked what you want to do with the message. Click in
the checkbox next to the first action, "move it to the
specified folder".
In the bottom part of the window, the action should now appear after
the condition. Click on the word "specified" to select
the "Spam-Barracuda" folder we created.
Once the folder is selected, click "Finish".
The new rule should show up in the Rules list, and be enabled (the
checkbox is checked). Click OK, and now Outlook should
automatically file any message marked as spam by the Barracuda into
your "Spam-Barracuda" folder.
If you would like to add additional rules to filter out messages
with lower Barracuda Spam scores that you still consider spam, see the instructions here. |
