Work Information

School and advisor

I got a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at University of California, San Diego in June 2003. I am currently an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University.

While at UCSD, I worked with Prof. Brad Calder who co-directs the Processor Architecture and Compilation Lab (PACL) with Prof. Dean Tullsen.

Research

Stuff I worked on include:

Current Projects

·        Analyzing data footprint clustering and related optimizations

·        Phase-based program optimizations – with Tim Sherwood

·        Pointer cache assisted data prefetching with Jamison Collins and Dean Tullsen

·        Miss stream classification and pointer referencing optimizations

·        Predictor directed streaming buffers – with Tim Sherwood

·        Creating adaptive schedules for VLIW processors

·        Generating customized binaries for architectural evaluation

·        Modify the memory hierarchy of SimpleScalar simulation tool

Biographical Information

Suleyman was born in Turkey on 1975. He grew up in a small seaside town called Canakkale where he lived until he graduated from high school in 1993. Then he moved to Istanbul to attend Istanbul Technical University. After graduating with a B.Sc. degree in Control and Computer Engineering, he came to U.S. to pursue graduate education. After receiving his M.Sc. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Northeastern University in beautiful Boston, MA, he came to sunny San Diego, CA going after yet another degree. He is currently at University of California, San Diego, working hard to get his Ph.D. in Computer Science.
